Have you heard of Pinterest? It’s a social network that allows users to visually share and discover new interests. This happens by users posting (known as pinning) images or videos to boards. Users can also browse what other users have pinned and pin them to their own boards. 

 250 million people use the platform every month. These figures are not as much as some of the most popular platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Instagram has 1 billion users every month. It’s important to know how to use the platform to your company’s advantage. Instagram’s Story feature allows users to post photos and videos. This is different than posting to Instagram because your Instagram story will vanish after 24 hours. Posting to Instagram is great for larger content. Instagram stories are great for showing quick content such as new products or updates, your company’s day to day tasks, or sharing quick tips.

In July 1990, President George H.W Bush signed and passed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law. Ever since, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has been making updates to improve ADA website compliance. in 2010, the DOJ set standards that all electronic and information technology must be accessible to people with disabilities. This is called the ADA Standards for Accessible Design. 


ADA compliant websites provide an online experience accessible to everyone, including disabled users. All business websites must be ADA compliant. Why is this so important? There are approximately 48.9 million people in the United States with a disability. Moreover, there are 34.2 million people in the United States with functional limitations. Hearing or visual impairment and epilepsy are common disabilities. Non-ADA-compliant websites can impact people with these disabilities. (more…)

Yelp is an online business directory. It publishes crowd-sourced reviews posted by consumers about local businesses. In other words, Yelp is a place for consumers to leave their thoughts about you and your business. Of course, positive reviews can really help your business. On the other hand, negative reviews on the site can hurt your business.

In the past, Yelp had been under fire for displaying bias.  Business owners and consumers noticed that their positive reviews were being removed. It seemed that if your first review posted was positive or all your reviews were positive, the site filtered them out.

Business owners had been contacting the company asking why their positive reviews were removed. The company implied that if business owners advertised on Yelp this would not happen. Some business owners were even going as far as suing the company for extortion but were unsuccessful. However, this raised serious doubts in the past about the site. (more…)

Google has its own cross-platform web browser called Google Chrome. Chrome allows you to search Google while skipping the middleman like Safari or Internet Explorer.
